Be a Writing Wizard! New presentation!
The Writing Wizard is a fun, writing presentation with a magic theme
(shades of Harry Potter!) that your students will love! Each student
will become a Writing Wizard after completing their training (working
on a short writing assignment) and learning a simple writing formula.
The Writing Wizard is a fun program but it accomplishes an important
goalhelping students understand the basic writing process.
The author comes to your school in costume and uses fun props to spark
your students' imagination. She teaches would-be wizards her "Magic
Writing Recipe," an easy, useful tool that will guide them in their
writing. Students tap into their creative resources to select a writing
prompt using ideas that they choose. The writing wizards-in-training
use a "magic formula" of their collective descriptive words,
nouns, and action verbs to start work on a short writing assignment.
Ms. Maden helps your students through the hardest parthow to begin.
Following the "Writing Recipe" students complete and share
the first sentences of their writing.
Writing Wizard helps young writers become more familiar with the writing
process and basic parts of speech. Ms. Maden encourages students to
use characterization, action verbs and descriptive words. The Writing
Wizard will not only motivate and inspire your students, but give them
some easy steps to follow to help them learn to become better writers.

Grades 3 and up. This is a hands-on program with a maximum of 40 students.
Introduce your students to history, pirate facts and legend, and new
vocabulary with this fun program! Mary Madenin pirate costume shares
exciting true tales of pirates such as Blackbeard! Includes a sing along
of the author's original pirate songs and a reading from her book, The
Great Pirate Adventure. Tazz the dog, a character in Ms. Madenıs book
series is an optional part of this presentation. Ask for details! Integrates
English Language Arts, Social Studies, and Arts Education. 45 minutes
average. Grades K and up. This presentation can be done as an assembly
for large groups!

Using a special computer program (Power Point) and your studentıs Imagination
Power, Ms. Maden takes you on a whirlwind coastal tour of historic places
and famous events. This very unique performance makes history come alive!
